On 24th August 2024, His Lordship Vincent Mwakhwawa, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe will ordain to priesthood Deacon Alan Kita of St. Michaels Parish and Deacon Raphael Simwera of St. Mathias Mulumba Parish Misuku.
The Eucharistic Celebration will take place at Mughese Mt. Sinai Catechetical Center, St. Mathias Mulumba Parish in Misuku.

Raphael Simwera
Raphael Simwera, from Njewete, Chitipa under the Traditional Authority Mwenemisuku, is the seventh of eight children in his family, with two sisters. Raised in a close-knit family, Raphael’s early education began at Chuba Primary School. His academic journey then took him to Chitipa Secondary School and later to Yamba Secondary School, where he continued to excel.
Driven by a passion for education and personal growth, Raphael pursued teacher training at Karonga Teachers Training College. Upon completion, he embarked on a teaching career at Mwandambo Primary School, where he nurtured young minds and developed his skills as an educator.
However, Raphael’s true calling was in the priesthood, a path that was significantly influenced by the inspiration he received from late Fr. Denis Chitete. After several attempts to join the priesthood, his persistence and deep faith led him to the Formation Centre, where he began his spiritual journey. Raphael later furthered his studies at Peramiho Seminary in Tanzania, solidifying his commitment to his chosen vocation.
Throughout his life, Raphael has faced numerous challenges, but he overcomes them by drawing strength from his belief in Jesus Christ. He finds solace in the understanding that as Christ suffered, so too can he endure and rise above adversity.
In his personal life, Raphael enjoys reading books, watching football, and planting trees. These hobbies not only provide him with relaxation but also reflect his love for knowledge, sports, and nature.
Raphael remains motivated and focused by always putting God first in everything he does. His guiding principle is encapsulated in his catchphrase, “Merciful Father, help me to see the face of Christ in everyone,” a reminder of his deep commitment to compassion and empathy in all his interactions.

Allan Genuine Kita
Allan Genuine Kita, born on December 9, 1995, in the village of Chipalanje, Chitipa, Malawi, is a man whose life has been shaped by unwavering faith, a strong sense of purpose, and an enduring commitment to his religious vocation. Currently residing in Mwenefuvya Village, Chitipa, under the traditional authority of Mwabulambia, Allan’s journey to the priesthood is a testament to his resilience and deep spiritual conviction.
Allan was born into a devout Catholic family. His mother, Dyness Mulungu, hails from Zambwe Village in Chitipa, while his father, Joshua Wipi Kitha, is from Chipalanje Village in Chitipa. Allan is the third of five children, with two sisters and two brothers. Growing up in a household where faith played a central role, Allan’s early exposure to the Catholic Church laid the foundation for his future vocation.
Allan’s educational journey began at Chitipa Model Primary School and continued at Kawale Full Primary School. His academic and spiritual development was further nurtured during his secondary education at St. Patrick’s Minor Seminary in Rumphi, a period that played a crucial role in shaping his desire to pursue the priesthood.
Following his time at the minor seminary, Allan’s formation continued at Christ the King Formation Center in Rumphi, followed by studies at Kachebere Major Seminary in Mchinji and St. Peter’s Theological Major Seminary in Zomba. He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Philosophy and Theology, academic achievements that reflect his dedication to his spiritual and intellectual growth.
Allan’s vocation to the priesthood is deeply intertwined with his family’s Catholic background and his early involvement in church activities, such as Sunday school and youth programs. These experiences fostered a growing desire within him to serve the Church. His commitment to this path was further solidified through interactions with major seminarians at his parish, who provided additional inspiration and motivation.
A pivotal figure in Allan’s vocational journey was Father Alick Sikwese, then the Parish Priest at St. Michael’s Parish in Chitipa. Father Sikwese’s encouragement and guidance were instrumental in Allan’s decision to enter the seminary, making him a mentor and a guiding force in Allan’s life. Allan also acknowledges the support of Father Ediward Kamanga, who played a critical role during a challenging period when Allan took a one-year break from seminary formation. Additionally, Father Bernard Silungwe’s assistance was vital in facilitating Allan’s re-admission to the seminary after his break, underscoring the importance of community and mentorship in his journey.
Allan’s journey to the priesthood was not without its challenges. The most significant of these was a one-year hiatus from seminary life, a period marked by introspection and personal struggle. However, Allan’s deep faith in God and his commitment to prayer helped him navigate this difficult time. His resilience and determination to continue his vocational path, despite the setbacks, speak to his strength of character and unwavering belief in his calling.
In his personal life, Allan is passionate about reading, particularly the scriptures and other literature that contribute to his ongoing spiritual and intellectual development. He also enjoys jogging, which he views as essential for maintaining both physical health and spiritual discipline.
Allan’s core values are centered around the belief in living harmoniously with others, a principle he considers fundamental to a fulfilling life. His guiding philosophy is inspired by the words of the Apostle Peter in the Bible: “Lord, you know everything,” a reflection of his deep trust in divine guidance.
Allan’s successful completion of Bachelor’s degrees in both Philosophy and Theology stands as a testament to his academic and spiritual dedication. His ability to overcome the challenges he faced during his formation, particularly the one-year break, underscores his resilience and commitment to his vocation.
